FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Lite Web Server Bridges Existing Lite Server Reduces the Cost of Hosting Data on the Internet AUSTIN, Texas June 1, 1998; Concur System Technologies has introduced the CyberNode LiteTM, the second in a family of thin Internet servers geared for industrial data acquisition and remote monitoring. The CyberNode Lite supports common Internet interfaces and stores HTML pages. It can host ActiveX or Java controls, and provides both server side processing and client side scripting. Its scaleable architecture allows for expansion using COTS, PC Card, or PC/104 modules. With a base price of $799 it can be configured for a wide variety of applications. "The CyberNode Lite is specifically attractive to customers who want to bridge data from existing equipment or systems currently using serial, MODBUS, LonworksTM, DeviceNet, or other non-internet communications and networking technologies," states Michael Foley VP of Engineering at Concur. Using standard browser technology with either HTML Source, Active XTM, or JAVATM controls, the data can be rapidly captured on web pages and viewed over the Internet with this low cost thin server technology. The CyberNode Lite is offered in a standard configuration or built to order with configuration options using PC/104 and PCMCIA add-on cards. Communication options include modems, ISDN terminal adapters, or wireless interfaces. Units are shipped with Concur's Flasher, a network friendly flash file system and BIOS. The CyberNode's WIN32 API-compatible micro-kernel operating system manages network connections and supports server side scripting, auto-generating HTML pages in real-time. "Concur's Cyber Acquisition technology is a new and attractive solution to implementing low cost Internet and intranet networking of industrial automation systems, process controllers, and remote monitoring equipment. This technology redefines the playing field for present day networking of manufacturing floors, industrial plants, and data collection systems. The CyberNode's value is its ability to provide a web centric HMI solutions for moving real-time data to the engineers' and managers' desktops while leveraging the core strength of the Internet's distributed networking model," explains Jeffrey Michalski, both President and Co-founder of Concur.
